Find Blade Tower Trailer For Sale
A blade tower trailer is a type of trailer used to haul oversized equipment. Most commonly, a blade tower trailer is used to haul wind turbines. Wind turbines are a device that converts the kinetic energy from the wind into electrical energy. These massive wind energy converters require special trailers to transport them to “wind farms” located in various parts of the United States, which is where the blade tower trailer comes in. Purpose of a Blade Tower Trailer Although a blade tower trailer is somewhat similar to other types of flatbed trailers in that it has no top or sides, it also has different and unique features. A blade tower trailer can accommodate the turbine blades, which may be 130 feet or more. A standard trailer or flatbed would not be able to handle that length. In addition to the turbine blades, the wind tower and a generator also require transport. The weight of all this equipment can be massive and is sometimes in excess of 50 tons. Blade tower trailers are built to haul loads of up to about 80 tons. Design Blade tower trailers are built with a pull-out bumper that is adjustable and can haul various sizes of turbine blades. Some trailers may even extend or pull-out up to 184 feet. The pull-out design allows the trailers to carry the load low and avoid overhead obstructions on the highways. Blade tower trailers also are available with different numbers of axles, some with as many as 13 axles. Hauling oversized equipment, such as wind turbines, requires safety features, which the blade tower trailers have. Most trailers have telescoping beams that lock into place for security. Often blade tower trailers also feature wireless remote control and operate a self-steering system that rotates and helps keep the axles in line with the truck.
