Find Boring Machines For Sale
Boring machines are tools used to create a hole with a precise diameter that cannot be achieved by hand. You will find these machines in many manufacturing worksites because they are heavy duty and precise. These machines can take on a wide variety of material and achieve the results you want with ease.
There are two types of boring machines, line boring and back boring. In line boring, the boring bar is supported on both ends and works in situations where the existing hole is in another hole. In back boring, the bar reaches through and works on the rear side of the work.
While boring machines are very popular in manufacturing, they can also be used in construction. These types of machines are referred to as tunnel boring machines (TBM). These types of boring machines are used as an alternative to drilling and blasting for new mines or creating subway systems. TBMs typically limit how much they disturb the surrounding land and simultaneously create a smooth tunnel wall. In turn, this reduces the need for tunnel lining materials and saves money. While a TBM may sound like one universal machine, there are two types available.
Hard rock TBMs feature disc cutters that are attached to the disc head and works to create stress fractures in the wall of the tunnel. In turn, this means that the rock is chipped away from the tunnel wall and is moved to a conveyor belt to transport outside of the tunnel. Soft rock TBMs uses a multitude of cutters to chip away at the material. The difference between the two are there are more types of soft rock TBMs to handle the softer material it is dealing with. Soft rock TBMs are almost considered the “gentler” of machines because of the delicate nature they work in.
