GivingTuesday: Construction & Agriculture Organizations To Support
It’s the season of giving, which is the perfect opportunity to highlight some of the fantastic companies and organizations working to make the world a better place. GivingTuesday is an annual date reserved to express generosity and encourage donations for causes, and there are plenty of ways to show some gratitude for grit for those in the heavy equipment industries. We’re sharing more on several leading examples of construction and agriculture companies worth supporting right now.

American Farmland Trust
American Farmland Trust (AFT) works to save this country’s farms and ranches through conservation efforts. This organization promotes sound farming practices and helps farm families keep their land. AFT’s efforts have helped save millions of acres of farmland from development while supporting tens of thousands of farmers in employing sustainable practices.
AFT works with farmers to develop custom solutions to aid their farms, including creating conservation plans. Some of AFT’s other initiatives include Women for the Land; Smart Solar; the Brighter Future Fund for farmers and ranchers facing economic challenges; solutions to combat climate change; and advocating for federal policy solutions.
The Associated General Contractors of America
The Associated General Contractors (AGC) is an organization of qualified construction contractors and industry-related companies. Within the AGC umbrella is AGC Charities, founded in 2008 as a nonprofit organization that operates exclusively for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes.
AGC Charities promotes and supports the national charitable initiative Operation Opening Doors, which is a program designed to provide home remodeling services to soldiers and veterans who have suffered disabling wounds while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. This charitable group also provides assistance to construction professionals and their families who become victims of natural disasters or other catastrophes.
Additionally, AGC Education and Research Foundation is under this umbrella, which awards scholarships to construction management and engineering students to help with the rising cost of college tuition.
Construction for Change
For more than 17 years, the nonprofit Construction for Change has worked with both non-governmental organizations and government ministry clients to provide life-improving services to the communities they serve. The organization works on behalf of their clients to manage construction risks and ensure on-time and on-budget completion.
Construction for Change prioritizes local women, Black, Indigenous, and people of color as project managers on jobsites, and sustainable design and energy-efficient technologies. The organization works as much as possible with local labor and trains construction workers for future employment opportunities.
Farm Rescue Foundation
Farm Rescue Foundation assists farmers and ranchers who have experienced unexpected major injury, illness, or natural disasters. By addressing the expenses of specialized equipment and providing accessible improvements to structures, Farm Rescue Foundation is able to provide aid to these individuals and families in the ag industry.
Farmers and ranchers in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin are able to apply for financial grants through the Farm Rescue Foundation. This organization has given assistance to families, provided seated lifts to allow farmers to continue their work, and has given back to charities.
Turner Construction Company
Turner Construction Company Foundation is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring change wherever they build. This foundation supports charitable organizations that promote wellness, workforce readiness, and inclusion through education and training. The Foundation has donated more than $17 million to local charities via 129 fundraising events in 20 states.
Some of the Turner Foundation’s fundraising events have included work with Carry the Load and Hunger Busters in support of veterans to address food insecurity in Dallas; partnerships with Kansas City-area community campaigns; support for organizations in Michigan that focus on healthcare and education; and raising funds for community organizations in Florida.
